The field guide

Everything between the card and the contributor portal.

Seven stages in the order a shoot actually moves. Every stage is visible, every decision is reversible, and nothing claims an outcome the agencies own.

01 · Intake

Point Foverix at the shoot — not one file at a time.

Choose the folder, name the batch, pick the output location, processing path, and quality gate. RAW and JPEG sit side by side; there is no JPEG-first detour.

  • Folder and drag-and-drop import with subfolder discovery
  • JPEG, PNG, TIFF, DNG, ARW, CR3, NEF, RAF, RW2, ORF, PEF, and SRW
  • Apple ProRAW-aware handling and RAW preview fallbacks
  • Runtime and size estimates before processing starts
  • Pending batches with resume and folder-change checks

02 · Curate

See why a frame passed — or why it needs you.

Quality signals stay separated and readable — technical, subject focus, and composition. The gate recommends; the photographer decides.

  • Technical, subject-focus, and composition dimensions
  • Sharpness, exposure, subject-aware, and depth-aware signals
  • Per-eye portrait sharpness when a supported face is detected
  • Permissive, Recommended, Strict, or custom quality gates
  • Status filters, search, sort, grid/list, and lightbox review
  • Manual promotion or demotion with an override record

Licensing signals — logo, brand, trademark, identifiable-face, and editorial flags — surface in the same review pass, with region highlights and release recommendations. They inform your call; they are not legal advice.

03 · Group

Cut the batch to its real size.

Near-identical frames collect into stacks before you spend a single word on them. Similarity is adjustable, and stacked frames stay one click apart.

  • Visual near-duplicate detection with an adjustable threshold
  • Capture-time context helps separate look-alikes from true dupes
  • Stacks review as units; individual frames stay reachable
  • Duplicate-aware filtering before metadata and export

04 · Series

Compare the burst. Move the hero.

Bursts group from capture context, and Foverix suggests the strongest frame from quality signals. The suggestion is a starting point — your pick is what ships.

  • Burst and series grouping from image and capture context
  • Automatic hero recommendation from quality signals
  • One-click manual hero selection and series approval
  • Optional hero metadata propagation across the series

05 · Describe

Grounded in what the camera knew.

Titles and descriptions arrive pre-filled from the frame itself — capture time, GPS coordinates, and nearby-landmark context — then stay fully editable.

  • AI-assisted titles and descriptions you edit word by word
  • EXIF GPS extraction and reverse geocoding
  • Nearby-landmark search using OpenStreetMap data, with relevance and distance ranking
  • Attractions, historic sites, parks, peaks, and natural features
  • Cached lookups across photographs from the same shoot

Location features require usable GPS coordinates in the file. Detected places are suggestions to review — never a claim that a landmark is visible in the frame.

06 · Tag

Ordered keywords, agency limits in view.

Keyword order carries weight on stock platforms. Foverix builds the set most-relevant-first and keeps Shutterstock and Adobe Stock counters visible while you edit.

  • Ordered keyword chips with add, remove, and reorder
  • Keyword suggestions, consolidation, and blacklist handling
  • Single-frame editor and whole-batch operations
  • Find-and-replace in titles across the batch
  • Category and licensing classification per agency rules
  • Two-phase metadata validation when the selected path supports it

Validation checks your metadata against agency field rules. It does not — and cannot — guarantee acceptance.

07 · Finalize

Build the package. Keep the record.

Validated frames become a submission folder with everything the handoff needs. Foverix prepares the package — upload stays on your route, through your own contributor accounts.

  • Shutterstock and Adobe Stock validation with CSV preview
  • Selected images and agency CSVs — XMP sidecars stay beside your RAW originals
  • FileZilla queue and README for the upload handoff
  • Cancellable package builds and Reveal in Finder
  • Delivery history with agency, frame count, size, and status
  • Batch archive, rerun, rebuild, and override history

Processing choices

Local, your provider, or managed — per run.

The processing mode is a visible per-run choice, not a buried default. Not every path is available on every machine or plan; the app shows what is configured.

Local

Supported models run on your Mac. Model management, health state, and download status live in the app.

No per-image cloud credits

Bring your own key

Configured cloud endpoints and subscription-based tools you already pay for. Credentials live in the macOS Keychain, never in project files.

The toolbox around the stages

Small tools, long batches.

The capabilities that keep a 2,000-frame batch recoverable and make the app fit different machines, providers, and working styles.

Drafts

Set up now, run later.

Save folder, output, provider, and quality-gate choices. Resume with a folder-change check.

Checkpoints

Survive the interruption.

Long runs checkpoint progress, so a quit, crash, or machine sleep does not restart the batch.

Live pipeline

Watch and control the run.

Stages, counts, activity, ETA, and engine status. Pause, resume, stop, retry, or dry-run supported stages.

Bulk operations

Edit the batch, not the frame.

Batch metadata edits, find-and-replace, status changes, and keyword operations across selections.

Credentials

Keys stay out of files.

Provider credentials store through the macOS Keychain, with health checks and hidden-key indicators.

Budgets

See the processing route.

Provider, model, token estimates, usage limits, and health stay visible instead of becoming a hidden default.

Automation

Start beyond the window.

Folder watching, the foverix CLI, URL actions, and Raycast-oriented shortcuts for repeatable workflows.

History

Return to any batch.

Frames, exports, overrides, drafts, and delivery records stay reviewable; archive or intentionally rerun work.

Diagnostics

Open when it hurts.

Engine diagnostics, logs, and cache tools expose what a long-running batch is doing and why.

Themes

Match the room you edit in.

Theme choices tuned for long review sessions, including the warm dark default this site mirrors.

Updates

Current without ceremony.

Signed builds with automatic update delivery, so the workflow improves without rebuild rituals.

Native Mac app

Built around macOS.

Keyboard-friendly controls, accessibility labels, and platform conventions — not a wrapped website.
